A wintry-weather visit from the North Carolinian - Young family.

Our cold snowy winter weather.

The Youngs working on their inventory of conference materials in our living room.

Learning how to sled the proper north country way..
downhill - rather than being pulled.

Here they are ..last ones getting in...ready to leave for Canada. It was well below zero while they were here.
(It is good to remember - they are from North Carolina.)

~They are great folks!~

A January day at the Bay Window Quilt Shop in Perham!

Several ladies car pooled about an hour north to this creative and fun quilter's dream store.  It was a cold winter day outside but inside it was warm, colorful and inspiring.  Needless to say we had a lovely time.

Christmas Gathering of Area Quilters

On the way to the quilt meeting......a barn catches the morning sun.
Our quilt group showing the pillow cases they sewed and donated to a children's  hospital.
After the meeting we were invited to one of the ladies' home for a Christmas luncheon.
Dishing up..a large pot of soup with other tasty foods.

A decoration on the wall behind the oven

A big stuffed lion guarded the family gifts.
The sweet ladies.
Two of the happy ladies.
More of the ladies... getting their gifts.
Amy, Ana, and Alyssa on the stairs leading  to the second level.
Investigating the "Owl Babies" children's book.
In the car...I caught a picture of the home as we left.

From The Past

This was taken several years ago before we moved to Vermont. It was maybe 16 years ago.
There sure were a lot of smiles.
Happy times!

Time To Do This Life Well

The girls together on Alyssa's birthday, 2011.
“I don’t really want more time;
I just want enough time.
Time to breathe deep & time to see real & time to laugh long, time to give You glory & rest deep & sing joy…
I just want time to do my one life well.
Life at its fullest is this sensitive, detonating sphere —
and it can be carried only in the hands of the unhurried and reverential—
a bubble held in awe.”

Cold memories from Amy's birthday.....

"Only 2 months until spring!"...was a comment heard at breakfast this morning.  It is very cold, today especially. (-15 degrees F.)  This brought to my mind back to the year Amy was born, 1985.  It was also very cold on these very same days.  I remember going to the hospital shivering, and in labor.  It was so cold (with the wind chill, it was at least -50).
I just read a sweet post  on winter and the cold,  from a young lady and wanted to share that here too. It is well worth reading!  (A Bowl of Moss and Pebbles is the name of the site.)
